Everton will look to keep their chances of qualifying for next season’s Champions League alive when they host Premier League leaders Chelsea at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Ronald Koeman’s men are targeting a top four finish but as they currently lie seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with just four fixtures remaining, the Merseyside outfit will know that nothing less than three points will do against Antonio Conte’s men.
It won’t be an easy task against the west London outfit either, who bounced back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat against Manchester United by knocking four goals past both Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton in the FA Cup and league respectively.
The Toffees will be keen to keep progressing after what has been an impressive campaign, and they could do a lot worse than take a closer look at the Chelsea squad when they are strengthening this summer.
Here are three Blues players Everton should look to sign…
Tammy Abraham
Even though he has made just two first team appearances for Chelsea, the 19-year-old will have attracted interest from a number of clubs because of his goalscoring exploits on loan at Championship side Bristol City this season.
The striker has netted 26 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for the Robins, and standing at 6’4” tall he looks to be of a similar mould to Toffees frontman Romelu Lukaku.
With the future of the Belgian still uncertain, Abraham could prove to be the perfect replacement or a decent back-up if the 23-year-old stays at Goodison Park.
Michy Batshuayi
Hopes among Chelsea supporters would have been high when they signed the prolific Batshuayi from Marseille for just over £33m last summer.
The Belgium international had scored 23 goals in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit last term but he has struggled to break into the Blues side under Antonio Conte – especially in the Premier League – with the majority of his 17 top flight appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench.
The 23-year-old must have something about him though and Everton should make a move for him this summer whether Romelu Lukaku stays at the club or not.
Asmir Begovic
With both Maarten Stekelenburg and Joel Robles failing to impress this season, there is little doubt that Ronald Koeman will be looking for a new number one this summer.
The Dutchman has been linked with the likes of Jordan Pickford and Tom Heaton but he could do a lot worse than make an offer for Asmir Begovic.
The former Stoke City stopper was considered to be one of the most reliable goalkeepers in the Premier League during his time at the Britannia Stadium and even though he has found himself behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, the 29-year-old certainly still has plenty to offer.
